LT4 Knock module

Where can I get a LT4 knock module besides the dealer, and how much? I need one with LT's right?

madwolf 11-17-2003 11:31 PM

Depends on the car really. You may not be getting any knock retard at all with LTs and so an LT4KM would be useless, or you may be getting tons of it and the LT4KM may not help at all... I guess most people just go with one anyway. Doesn't hurt, that's for sure.

You could try the for sale/wanted section for a used one, but they're not really that expensive from the dealer either.

The part number is:
16214681

You could buy it from www.gmpartsdirect.com
or

Jason Cromer: 877-726-8295 or 850-243-8826 (direct parts dept ph #)
email: gmparts@samtaylor.com
Sam Taylor Buick/Cadillac Ft. Walton Beach, FL

for best prices.

Thanks. Is there a way to tell if your timing is being retarded due to knock besides loss of power and gas mileage. I know what knock sounds like, but if the knock sensor does it's job, you will never hear it.

madwolf 11-17-2003 11:57 PM

Yes, you could find out, but you'd need a scantool (with sensor monitoring abilities) for that...

tpis for 45 bucks, and it does not retard the timeing, at least it didnt wheni put it into my 97 camaro z28.

I got mine from a local dealer, for $17 or $27 don't remember.

AxeGrinder30thZ 11-18-2003 12:12 PM

Do you guys think I need a LT4 KM? I got SLP shorties and true dual bullets. I was told if you had headers or a loud exhaust, then you might want to look into it? That true?

Heatmaker 11-18-2003 12:19 PM

Get it...any car with aftermarket headers are exhaust will need one...reguardless. LT-1 module is too sensative...and it makes my car suck at doughnuts.

if you get headers or roller rockers then you need the LT4 KM so it wont be as sensative, stock module will retard the timing and make the car run like ass, because the computer thinks that the motor is knocking.
