No, you can receive better HP # with stock heads. LE1 or LE2 head and cam combo would be the way to go. depending on you buget. do a search for Lloyd Ellit..

Do not use the Hotcam springs if you can...I had to replace them because EVERY one of them after some nice 5800 runs every damper was broken!!!

Sounds like install error to me. I've been running them for over 30k miles and have had many many 6500 rpm blasts.

LT4 springs are rated at a maximum lift of .525. when you use 1.6 rollers you are right at .525...too close for comfort and the first thing to go are the dampers. I used the springs with the comp 306 cam with 1.5 rockers and the lift is .541. I thought the LT4's were good to .550 but boy was I wrong

Re: Is the LT4 kit worth it?

If your talking about the LT4 conversion (LT4 heads etc.) dont waste your money. If your talking about the LT4 Hot Cam kit then yes, its reasonably priced and is a proven performer. With ported heads at peak rpm I was putting out ~100 rwhp more than the stock setup at that rpm.

I see now, didn't know that you were running them with a CC306. Using them with a cam that has any more lift than the hot cam would be a no no as you found out.

The LT4 springs are only rated to .525 lift, which the Hotcam and 1.6RRs puts you right at. Also, they were actually designed with the LT4 valves in mind, which are lightweight hollow valves. They will work fine with the actual LT4 valves and hotcam, but I would not recommend them with the Hotcam and stock LT1 valves.

Back to the original question, no I don't believe the LT4 "kit" is worth it. I love my LT4, but if I were upgrading an LT1 I would get ported heads and a larger cam than the hotcam. You'll make more power and spend less money.
