Lightbulb LT4 Intake on LT1???

I was browsing through the summitt cataloge and they sell the LT4 powercoated intake now, and I saw it said it withstands cars that put out 425+ horsepower. Does that mean if Im making lets say 300-350 hp it wont support it???

It will support your car if you make 35 hp. The LT4 intake is just specific for LT4 heads. Yes LT1 heads can be machined a little to fit but its not worth the trouble anyway. I always thought that Summit description is misleading. LT4 Vettes are only rated at 330hp just like the approx 130 LT4 F-bodies from 97. The description should be more like "LT4 intake to work in conjunction with LT4 heads".

No problem, that Summit description is deceiving and makes the LT4 intake out to be SIGNIFICANTLY better than the LT1. Yes the LT4 setup has more potential and flows much better out of the box than the LT1 setup but by all means isnt an incredible leap of performance. For reference I'll eventually go LT4 top end but sticking with the LT1 for heads/cam on my stock short block because its cheaper.

Good info.
I've been looking at doing the full LT1 to LT4 conversion.
Believe it or not, gm parts direct actually has a pretty good deal on the whole package, better than Summits.

You gave me something to think about.

hahaha,

get the shipping quotes from gmparts first! they're are purely rediculous. they even tell you on the site why they are so high...

they can have low advertised prices that way. Check into it...

it still might be cheaper, but it's not as cheap as I once thought.

Don't bother. The LT-4 conversion is good, but you will get FAR more bang for the buck by going with heads, cam, and LT's than the conversion kit.
