lt1 question

i am in the process of doing an engine swap from a 3.8 to an lt1. i know i need a new transmission but do i have to change out my rear end also? thanks

Dont think you need a new rear end but you might need a stronger driveshaft/ also if you don't have posi, you might want that too.

Didn't the V6 cars come with drum brakes and open rears?
Not sure but worth checking that...

Correct, drum brakes and the posi isn't even an option on the V6, according to my factory '93 to '95 brochures. Don't know about '96 up.

Unless it came with the option package with discs and posi.

I can't seem to remember the option code.

Must have been a '96 up option. Or an option that came out after the '95 brochure was printed.
