Lt1 overheating

Just wrapping up the rest of lt1 swap, installed an aftermarket temperature gauge and its reading over 200, and spits the water/antifreeze back out to coolant tank continuously. any suggestions

Clogged up somewhere? is it a new cooling system or used?

was the LT1 from a scrap yard? how long did it sit? you mite have a clog in the block somewhere if you didn't tear into it.

it sat for bout a year, but I do not have the 2 small necks under the radiator cap hooked up and I found my water pump leaking from its weep hole

Normal operating temp is ~226* before the fans kick on. If coolant is coming out of the overflow tank I would suspect a bad radiator cap.

Depends if you're moving or not. My car has an EWP and stock cooling system otherwise and runs at 170-180 while driving and goes all the way up to 230-235 while idling before the fans kick on and bring the temp back to the 210 range. If you hear bubbling its likely you have a bad radiator cap. Replace the water pump since you're leaking from the weephole. Then replace the radiator cap. Fill the system and bleed it from the bleed screws.

Nope. A stock 4th gen also uses an 18 psi cooling system.

would I have to hook up the 2 small necks under the radiator cap? one is for the coolant tank, and the other goes to back of heads but do I need these hooked up to run normal temperature

Are the openings sealed off? Some people run without a steam pipe without a problem while others have problems with hotspots. I would think that you would need an overflow tank to run properly.

I don't know how that is posible, 210* is straight up and down. Redline should be around 360*.

no they not blocked off, I found the reverse cooling line so now I just need a hose to connect it to radiator.

I dont either. Maybe thats why I'm "overheating." the PCM says 220 at almost the red.
