Cool LT1 Newbie

Hey everyone...I will be purchasing an LT1/6speed change over...*dirt cheap* I work at a salvage yard so...ya.... anyways I will be stuffing this bad boy in my 88iroc...coming out of a 94 maro and I will have everything including from pedals, wire harness, brain boxes etc..hell Im even getting the console out of the car .....I know how the 6speed swap goes but what does it take to get an LT1 in a 3rd gen besides changing motor mounts? Here's the flaw...it DOES have 110k on it which isnt bad for a 94...I will obviously get it rebuilt. Im tossing around the idea of just getting the heads ported + polished and throwing in the LT4 Hot Cam kit.....any good kits for the bottom end? Id be looking for forged pistons cause i do plan on juicing it and keeping a reasonable streetable compression, any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Re: LT1 Newbie

I've read of several guys on here that have done the swap, but it is non-trivial. Among other things that require modification are the fuel lines and throttle cable. Search around, and you'll probably find some good stuff. Maybe in the third-gen forum?

Good luck.

Thirdgen.org has lots of info on LT1 swaps. With your access to parts, you should be able to make it happen more cheaply than most.

Yeah it looks as though the swap itself is pretty much covered everywhere Im jus shopping around on a nice bottom end rebuild kit...I've looked at the summit ones but I've heard borth good and bad things...Im pretty much decided on the Lt4 hot cam kit and ported and polishing the heads...ive gotten that far and i dont mind going all out on the motor cause im getting this swap for good money with pretty much everything that Iam going to need
