LT1 engine block

I read somewhere that there is a ball bearing in some hole on the engine block. If you take the block to have it cleaned you have to make sure that you don't loose it. Has anybody heard of this? If so, could you please tell me where it is located. Thanks for your help in advance.

I am not for sure where it is located. I remember something about it is hard to take out but if you have your engine block cleaned in a hot vat then it is possible to loose it.

Re: LT1 engine block

insert a brass drift (i think steel is ok too) into the oil pressure sender hole and tap the steel ball out. it'll drop out of the rear main cap mounting area. the ball itself is .473" in diameter.

Re: LT1 engine block

Some odd info in this thread. That ball is, indeed, in the back of the engine like xsk5 said.

Sends oil pressure info to your sensor. Had mine dipped and it seems to still be there, running 70 PSI on Melling HV Pump, I wouldn't worry about it.

Re: LT1 engine block

the ball bearing is a plug that makes the oil go to the right place - it is needed cause they needed to drill a hole straight thru, but wanted the oil to turn right.
