Engine won't start... Car sat for 6 months
Hello... I am new so bare w/ me.
I have a 1994 z28 and one day about six months ago one morning I went to start my car and it would not start. It made a grinding noise. This noise was identified as a bad starter from others. FF to today.
I had a guy want to buy my car so I had him change out the starter thinking the car would start. Not one thing was wrong w/ my car prior to it not starting. So the car has been sitting 6 months. I told him to bring a new battery and new starter. So he changes the starter but the battery he uses is not new. It is charged and seems to work OK. After he changed the starter the car wouldn't start. It would barely turn over. Then after manually turning the crank 5 or 6 times the car seemed to turn over a couple of times.
He believes that the engine is locked up... I have trouble believing this since nothing was wrong w/ it before I parked it.
Is there ANYTHING I should do after a car sits for 6 months? There was oil in it. Everything should have been fine. Is it possible a new battery would have had more CCA than a used charged battery?
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

shoulda drained the oil when you parked it, or at least went out and let it run from time to time, you might have locked it down, or sludged it up so its might be having trouble turning it over

Parking it for 6 months didn't cause the engine to be seized. The oil didn't miraclously sludge up or thicken to paste....hell, I don't change my oil but every 6-9 months and my car starts fine. Check the old, but good battery..maybe it's not so good. Then start with the body grounds..they probably got a case of the corrosion sitting for a while...a bad ground will cause the enigne to turn over slowly and can happen while the car sits...

Jump it from another vehicle. If you still have the same cranking issue, pull the cable off the battery in the car and jump directly to them from the other vehicle.
If you still have an issue, remove the plugs and try to crank it over.
