LT1 build more ??

I was reading a set of posts about a guy doing a 383 build and looking to gain about 450 hp at the rear and then adding a 200 shot. Some of your answers were a bit off my plans since he was in fact going rather radical. And you brought to question the reliablity of it as a street car. I was hoping to get advice on just doing a 383 lt1. I have no plans of putting it on the bottle and would just like to have a nice sounding powerful engine in the thing. Is a 383 in fact the way to go or can I acheive a good result just leaving it with a 350 crank. I would hate to spend all the money doing a rebuild and have it still sitting at the 275 mark like stock. kinda defeats the purpose.

So far I have been looking at what the engine companies offer in the $3500 range and seeing what guts the used to make their hp claims. (of which i bet they are flywheel readings) does anyone have any insight on what I should use to get a solid motor that will eat fords when needed???

A nice Scat 9000 crank, some I or H beam rods and a properly matched set of pistons for stock or close to stock compression. Have the Stock heads ported and polished with a nice valve job and good components. Add a nice cam to take advantage of the heads and some programming and you'll be pretty much set as far as motor goes. Then you have to beef up everything behind it. :)
