This isn't really a WTB thread, so I thought it would be ok in here. I am looking to pick up a used LT1 block to start on a 383 build up, so that I don't have to have my car down while I am building the new motor.

What is a good price on a used LT1 block and what all should I look for when inspecting one before buying. I know cracks or huge gouges in the cylinder wall would definately not be good, but wasn't sure of anything that wouldn't be obvious that I may need to look for.

There is one on ebay right now local and I know of a few other places local that will probably have one so I will probably get to inspect it before buying it.

 

They seem to be way overpriced on ebay. I simply put "WTB LT1 bare block" in my signature on here when I was looking for one, and got a few PM's. With some luck you'll find one close enough to you so that you can get it checked before you buy it.
