LT & Engine Install

I did a little research before posting this, but didn't see anything on point. My motor grenaded just before I went to Iraq last year. Its a '97 Z28 M-6. Since I've been back, I pulled it out (from the top) and had it rebuilt with a KB kit (.030 over). I have a mild Vette' cam in it and had the 'puter reprogrammed with a OBD I 'puter a couple of years ago.
Anyway, I got some Pacesetter LTs (coated) for Christmas. I am also going to put a new clutch in it. What I'd like to do is assemble everything on the floor and drop the whole package back into the car, tranny, motor and headers (from the top). Has anyone done this? I haven't taken the measurements yet. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

wont fit in from the top

if you want to do it that way, drop the subframe and stick it in the bottom

Looks like I should do some research. Anyone do it both ways? From the top and the bottom? I've never dropped the subframe in a car (did it in a van once) so I am a little unsure of myself. Do you just bolt the motor to the crossmember and jack the whole thing up?
I'll do a little looking, I am sure this has been covered.
Thanks for the reply,
Jim

Dave,
Thanks for the link. Looks like my research has been done for me.
Whats it look like trying to wire everything up before the motor install? It'd be so much easier to get the plugs and wiring harness on when everything is on the ground.
Thanks,
Jim

Its real easy to do when the motor is out, just unplug the few remaining connectors from the harnes top the car(3-4 inside pass kick panel, under PCM)2 on the pass shock tower
and then you just plug everything in on the motor and lay the rest on top

you will need to undo brake lines and ABS connectors to drop the subframe, along with the sway bar brackets to the body

I've dropped several this way, and helped install a few

you can make the cart, some 2x4s and some caster wheels
