This is my first post so dont laugh if i do something wrong.my 94 z with 57,000 miles on it has a problem, after one to three minutes the ses light comes on and then the cooling fans come on. i tried my cheap scanner but as soon as i plug it in the fans come on and the ses light locks on instead of flashing. the car drives fine with the light on, and sometimes will go off at idle, but after 1200 rpms its back on. i would appreciate any help,this is my seventh f-body, but the first one i need help with,thanks.
You need a real scanner to communicate with the pcm to tell you what codes there are. You cannot flash the codes on a 1994. The fans will automatically come on when the SES comes on-that's normal. My guess is it is something to do with the EGR, if it is going on solid and then back off.

yeah the fans come one due to setting the PCM into feild service mode. and the unlucky ones with a 94 and 95 are stuck having to get scanned by a shop or a dealer.. sorry.
I also agree that it could be a EGR code.
The PCM runs an EGR flow test once per igngition cycle to determin flow rate and is run during closed throttle. The system used manifold pressure reading based on MAP voltade to determin the function of the EGR flow.
sounds like it might have failed the test.
