LS1 Brake upgrade question

i have a 94 Z wondering what do you have to do to install the ls1 brakes. New rotors, calipers etc brake lines?... what else? is this hard to do?

is it really worth doing?

i live near a F-Body junkyard in Bristol, PA...i could prob get the parts i need there!

Any other suggestions

Thanks!

Just finished mine. Buy a complete set fom a junkyard BUT make sure they came off a car that had NO damage to the front. Bent knuckles are impossible to see. They are around $150-200 for the complete kit from Ebay. Also paint the knuckles and calipers beforehand...looks cleaner. And yes they give you better brake feel and stops ya quicker.

Other than eBay, where can you find a complete LS1 brake swap? I haven't seen them lately on eBay, just the C5/Z06 brakes.

DON'T buy a kit off Ebay, mine had a bent spindle arm and I've heard the same issue from many other people. Plus, the rotors and pads in the "kit" I bought were junk too. Call up a local salvage yard and order just the spindle arms (that way you can make sure you get arms that are undamaged), calipers and caliper brackets. Then go buy some replacement pads and rotors from whoever you want. The stock LT1 lines will work just fine, but you will need to bend down the mounting flange where the rubber line meets the hardline to make sure you have enough slack for a full lock turn.

Did you buy from just some guy that was selling a set? Or did you buy a set from one of the salvage dealers on Ebay? I've seen a guy sell numorous sets on there without any problems or negative feedback. I know it's possible that to get a bent knuckle, but maybe you were just one of the unlucky ones.

It was one of the salvage companies (somewhere in TN). Of course, stupid me I never realized that Lamberts salvage is right down the road from me and they have a ton of f-body stuff.

Is Lambert's pretty good at selling a good product? They sell the LS1 brake upgade on ebay, and I was thinking about buying a set from them. They have a 100% rating on ebay too. So I thought I might as well go for it.

The one I used was Lambert's Auto Salvage in OK. The one selling on Ebay is Lambert Auto Salvage in MS.
