Low Track, Fuel Problem & Starting sometimes.

I'm actually new here & glad that I found this forum, hope you guys can help me. :)

To be honest I've been facing problems with my V8 z28 96 Camaro lately, I want to treat her good like my babe … ;)

1> Sometimes it takes me like 5-6 seconds to start the engine and sometimes it starts like a lion. :mad:

2> When I stop by the gas station to put fuel in it, then when I open the fuel door and take that thing off to put gas in it, car sometimes shuts down but battery stays on and check gauges lights will be on too, especially if I was running on a high speed before refilling ... and I'm sure that I put too much gas for my regular use " I don't fully fill my tank though ” & I fixed oil leaking before 3 weeks.

3> Low track comes often ... when I hit the breaks hard, when I reverse with the steering is completely to the left or right ... and I hear strange sound from the back of the car and it looks like it is next to the right back wheel, sound is like TAK TAK TAK … funny I know. :D

Yesterday I was like cleaning my seats and my foot was under the car … I felt like it was burning … but it was nothing but heat … I don’t know if that’s normal. :alert:

I hope my description is good enough to know my problems. :rolleyes:

The low trac light comes on when at least one of the wheels is not turning at the speed of the other three. The ABS comes on and releases the brakes and applies them in pulses to the wheel with the problem. The low trac light tells you the system worked properly. The question becomes, is the problem wheel locking up prematurely. It could be the brakes to the questionable wheel are not releasing or are "grabbing" when they should not. Check for stuck calipers or leaking pistons at the brakes.

As far as the starting issue, try this for the next few times you try to start it. Turn key on but don't crank the engine. Then shut the key off after about 5 seconds. Then turn key on again without cranking for another 5 seconds and then off. Do this 6 times before finally cranking the engine to see if it starts quicker. If so, you probably have a common problem with the check ball in the fuel pump leaking fuel back to the tank away from the fuel rail. Only way to fix it is replace the fuel pump or install an inline check valve which are not reliable.

Now to the last issue of pumping fuel and engine dying. First, WHY would you leave the engine running while you pump fuel???????? If you did that here you could get fined but that's beside the point. Second, why would you not fill it up?????? Running on low fuel often will cause the fuel pump to over heat and eventually kill the fuel pump. If you wanted to do something worth while, instead of never filling it as you said. You would be better off never letting it get below a 1/4 tank.

In addition, leaving the fuel filler cap off while running can cause a DTC for low tank vacuum. Since you didn't mention that you have a hot restart issue, I would suggest you shut er down while refilling and then go on your way as normal. Then let's see if you have an issue after trying the starting suggestion.
