Lost on what to do.

I am new to this modding thing and am lost on what to start with so prepare for nube questions :P. I am have been offered and purchases a Ram Air hood. A question about the hood itself though, it has a panel covering the nostrils. If you are going to run the air box through do you cut the panels off? and if you dont want to use the air box can you still cut the panel away?

The point of ram air is to keep the engine running cool, so if I did that cold air would be comign to the engine so then would I still need to get a CAI?

Also I looked into a few things that I would like to do this winter, headers being the first thing. What am I looking for with these? I want a car that will pull hard off the line and not stop(which I know wont happen right away) so which should I begin with.

And last but not least for now. I have decided either Borla exhaust or Magnaflow. I have heard a Borla before and loved the sound of it, but would it be better to go full exhaust?

Thanks for the help!

Forget the Ram Air hood unless your into looks because thats all its good for. As far as its purpose, its not to keep the engine cool, its supposedly to force cold air into the intake which has been proven only works from like 150+.

I would skip the Ram air and get a good CAI. The headers is a good idea. Then go from there.

I have headers right now, but they arent installed. I am getting either borla or magnaflow and a highflow cat. So I guess my answer is to go for the exhaust first.

first things you need to do are the free mods...tb bypass...descreen MAF..get a 160 thermo...fan switches etc...then for your stock setup start with a moroso or SLP CAI then try mid length headers. altogether that'll get you 20-30hp.

You could always just supercharge it!! But thats a lot of money and I would rather do exhaust and such first. I am planning on supercharging ny car after I graduate, but who knows a lot could change by then. I dont know your allowance and all that.

many, many people who supercharge their cars just constantly run into problems. I have a friend whose s/c firehawk is constantly in the shop... but mostly for the same thing.

Yeah, Ive heard the same thing thats why I plan to do a lot more engine work than just throw a supercharger on it right away.

Sometimes when I look under the hood...the engine litterally says "Blow me."

Heads, cam, headers, and gears. Still the best imo.

what sort of chronic problems does he keep happening?
i hope its not because of the internals are stock with stock compression......

Im pretty sure that u should back up this statement, i would like to suggest that, this is an incorrect statement.

the simple idea of convextion is already good reason why it would cool the engine more...

at idle, the hot rising air will be able to escape and fresh air will be able to replace it, allowing the radiator to cool more efficiently.
