Re: longevity

Do you mean the 383 setup has a lot of miles on it or the engine you did it to had high miles when you did it? Cause the mileage on it when you do it won't make a huge difference.

Re: longevity

my old 383 set up that was built in 90 lasted for 5 HARD years VERY HARD!it ran 11.30s on the motor and had dipped in the hi 9's almost 10 it had daily beatings, roughly 60 bottles of spray, over 300 passes on it this 383 was built by NICKENS RACING it cost me 2600. everything was new!the heads were AFR 210s they were 1600 w/mild portwork,i failed to freshen her up cause she ran soooo goood she blew up at 6500 rpm in OD maybe more shift lite was on for a bit,the carnage of 1995 left me with an oil pan full of debris,no cam in the journals, pieces of crankshaft totally missing, one of the AFRs came off in 3 chunks of aluminum, distr.shaft was destroyed, timing chain was still together(cloyes, baby!)the headers had aluminum, cast iron mixed with antifreeze and oil it looked like a protein shake for R2D2,mad props to milodon for the oil pan that held it all in,however it looked like a pac-man frog......
if i were to add up the mileage that motor had on it i would say at least 80,000 could have been more!!!!!!!!!!!!!!with low tension rings at that!!!!!!!!!

Re: longevity

it all depends on how much you beat on it. the more load you put on the bearings the sooner there going to fail.
