This thread needs to be moved to the appearance section... nahh.... screw that, move this to the honda boards. Why the hell would you want to install "lightweight" carpet, and god forbid, you have to put the heavy foam down! lol, seriously, is this a joke?

No this is not a joke, it is a proven weight reduction method. I remember seeing something on it on LS1tech.com. And just in case you don't know, carpet actually does weigh quiet a bit and that's why they make lighter aftermarket carpet. You might want to know what your talking about next time before you decide to post a reply.

Take the piece of insulation out from under the fuel tank hump in the back and remember that there's more of it under all the carpet.

Plenty of weight to be lost from non-insulated carpet. Speed, Inc sells the fancy stuff, but you can pick up automotive carpet in plenty of places.

A local car audio shop would GUARANTEE carry exactly what you need. They use it often for making custom boxes for speakers. The carpet is extremely lightweight and thin, because it has to bend easily around enclosures. I guarantee it wouldn't cost you more than $30-40 if you know someone that can hook you up with a bunch of the carpet.

auto custom carpets do a search on the web, i bought carpet from them for my 85 firebird. it comes without any insulation and weighed about 30 lbs less than the factory carpet. i plan on doing it with my ta also. but you will here more road noise. and the rubber mat under the carpet over the gas tank is like 5lbs i removed mine.

Yeah...I think RacinLT1 on these boards has lightweight carpet. There are a few places you can get it...I think Yearone.com carries it amoung other places. I have not invested into it so far cause Im not all drag(yet) and I havent pulled the interior for the roll cage install yet. When I do, Ill be putting in some LW carpet while its all apart. I think most of the weight lost is due to no foam/insulation/sound deading stuff. As long as you dont put a lot of street miles on the car where road/rock/tire noises are a problem, then I would say its worth it.

Get some LW carpet, a DynaBatt battery, LW seats and remove the AC system....thats about 150lb loss and over .1/1mph gain. If you need every tenth/mph then its a good mod, IMO. If you want to go all out....dont put any carpet it
