Lifters?

Put in a new cam, and I didn't replace the lifters. I was wondering if anyone else with a cam are still usring the stock lifters.
And if not how long do you think my car will last without replacing them.

I didnt change mine w/70k miles on them.If they are in good shape and your cam isnt real big and you dont spin a real high rpm, they should be ok.

Good question, I was wondering about that myself. I am about to put a cam in and I was wondering if replacing lifters is really important? Many people seem to agree that you do not really have to, but I assumed you were supposed to? If I am going to be running a 224/230, 536/544 112 Comp Cam would it be wise to or not? If I can save the money I would rather do that. Any advice?

I'm running the 224/230 w/1.6 rr's. I reused my stock lifters only because I had 60,000 miles on them and they all looked perfect.

If you have a lot of miles on the car (100,000+) I would go ahead and change them.

It also depends on the cam and what you rev the car to. I only rev mine to 6200 at most.

Well, you will probably be alright for a while, but you should ALWAYS replace the lifters when swapping a cam.

There is no way to tell really, by looking if a lifter is bad since they are internal. There is no way to take a lifter apart and inspect the inside and test springs etc...

I had a lifter go out in my car when it was stock. Stock cam/heads etc. I olny replaced one and then a week later another one went out and had to replace all of them...So change them when changing cams and replace all of them..not just one you think are bad..
