Lifter Preload?
 

How much preload should i put of my lifters? I have cc306 with new gm lifters and 1.6rr, right now im running about 3/4 turn,

You will probably get several different answers, however, I believe the factory sets them around 1 turn on the stock lifters. Most recommend 1/2 turn and many recommend even less.

Since everyone has a different feeling for 0 lash, one really doesn't know precisely how much preset they have.

If you believe you have them at 3/4, then shouldn't be any problems unless they are too noisey and snuugging them another 1/8-1/4 quiets them up more.JMHO:cool:

I also do 3/4 turn, but they did seem like a couple came loose a couple hundred miles later so prob going to do what Bubba said, extra 1/8-1/4 and see what happens

I go 1/2 a turn and tighten the polylock, then I go another 1/8 of a turn to make sure it doesnt loose up.

(Just my experiences here)....So far Ive experimented with everything from 1 turn lifter preload.....all the way down to "true zero" lifter preload.....Each of my tried settings were driven for a number of weeks....the closer I got down to zero (like Im running now) the more the power picked up above 5500 RPM's(power that could "easily' be felt).......Hydrolic lifters just love to pump up at high RPM intern never letting the valves close all the way to trap cylinder pressure like it should(among other reasons)..........And also, (On mine) the valvetrain noise is really no different than setting them with gobs of lifterpreload...and It really shouldn't be... Having zero lifter preload (if set just right) still has no space(just like a preloaded lifter)........Joe:cool:
