leaking from front main seal..

hey guys just wondering what i can expect to pay to get my front main seal replaced?

noticedthe last week my car is leaking a lot from the front main seal. after i turn the car off within a minute i can see a decent puddle underneath.. enough for three fingers.

any ideas what an average shop would charge to replace the front mail seal?
also how many labor hours are involved?

everyone says to do it myself. but im a professional stereo installer and i see the stereos amatuers try to isntall themselves and how they hack up cars.. im not going to do a half *** job myself working on something like a front main seal. is it really that easy to replace or are my friends underestimating this car?

If you mean the crank seal in the front cover (there is no real "front main" seal), it is not that much work, but you need the right tools to do it (or you can make your life miserable by screwing something up).

the right tools make the jobs much easier. i figured this out the hard way....several times. buy a chilton's and follow the directions....read them through several times, mark what they're talking about or at least look to see. make sure you have all the tools and then start the project.

Before you go to all that trouble, try a high mileage oil like that from Valvoline called max-life. You would be suprised how many leaks can be removed with the extra swelling agent contained in this new formulation.
