LE2 lives
LE2 lives
A couple of buddies and I have been working on my LE2 setup and all of the other supporting mods since Monday. We took the engine out so we would have more space to work. We are lucky to have a lift at my dad's house. Anyway, I finally started the engine tonight. It started on the first try. Didn't want to idle, but it hasn't been tuned and I haven't checked the things I'm suppose to on the throttlebody. I still have a few finishing touches to do and things to check. I noticed a slight coolant leak coming from the thermostat hose and I still have correctly wire up the water pump. I have to get this done today (Friday), because I have an appointment to dyno tune tomorrow at 10am. Hopefully all goes well. I will post the numbers by Saturday night.

Post dyno numbers and a video if you can

Re: LE2 lives
Well, I dynoed today. For now, I only gained 30hp from the hotcam I had. I'm now making 360rwhp. I don't get it. I have so many more mods with better heads and a bigger cam. The graph doesn't have spikes and looks very good. I'm not sure what the problem is. Car seems to run good, but everyone else that has mods like me is seeing way more hp. I hate knowing that I spent over $3000 for 30hp.
The shop will be emailing me the dyno graph. I think we pulled 13 times trying different things with the tune. No matter what the tuner did, the #'s were close to the same.

There's got to be something causing your power to be down.
Hopefully the graph will help determine what is happening.
I hope it's something simple.
Could you post a list of the parts you installed for the project?
(Partial list from your sig)
LE2 heads and cam
ported intake (who ported that? was it matched to the heads?)
58mm Holley throttlebody
1.6 Comp Pro Mag rockers (SA or NSA?)
Comp Magnum pushrods
Cloyes double roller timing chain
Delphi 37lb injectors
Things that can cause power loss :
Ignition timing, plug wires, coil or opti
Plug gap, fuel pump / filter
Valve timing? (I don't think 2* would cause you that much pain)
Piston rings, head gasket, valve seating

It is a stock shortblock that has less than 50,000 miles on it. The wires are brand new MSD 8.5mm. The opti only has 10,000 miles on it. Originally I ordered the plugs Lloyd recommended, but I drove the car about 10 miles to get to the dyno and it messed the plugs up because of the 37lb injectors. We changed all plugs at the dyno shop to NGK TR55s. We gapped the plugs at .45. The fuel pump is stock and I didn't change the fuel filter. But, it has no problem getting the fuel it needs. Rockers are the NSA with GM guideplates. Head gaskets are the GM gaskets made for the impala SS. Lloyd ported the intake. Everything used was good quality parts. I have a lot of money in this build. I thought for sure I would be on the high end of the advertised power. I was thinking around 415rwhp. I still haven't received the dyno graph yet.
Oh, I was also told that I'm probably losing about 10-15hp on the dyno due to the 4.10 gears.

There's got to be something else going on.
Did you get a chance to datalog it at all?
Have you talked to Lloyd about it at all? I bet he has some ideas.

Re: LE2 lives
Here's another short list I received from a heads/cam shop one time.
He said that heads/cam installs often don't turn up big numbers because of
Mis sdjusted rockers
bad TPS
bad O2 sensor(s)
bad MAF
bad or wrongly installed opti
bad plugwires
bad fuel pump
But yeah, the graph will probably turn up the golden nugget of info we need.
