Kooks LT1 Headers

I have been talking to Kooks to get them to make us LT1 guys a header. All there LS1 stuff kicks ***. They have promised me that they would make the header if I could get 10-15 serious buyers. They will make 1 3/4, 1 3/4 stepped to 1 7/8, and 1 7/8. They offer mild steel, mild steel coated, or stainless(with that being my personal favorite). I have been looking for 1 7/8 for a long time and I know I'm not the only one. These headers will use their spiked collector just as all their headers use. So lets get a list going, e-mail me with name and phone number or if you have questions post here.

If I was in the market for headers, I'd be very interested. Kooks has always made some seriously kick-*** stuff.

Granted they'd be a stepped design, but 1-7/8" is a tight fit on these cars.

I assume these would be LT's? Did they mention around how much the price would be?

Frankly, I wouldn't go for something that wasn't dyno proven, especially at the price that they are bound to cost.JMHO

Yes they will be long tubes. I'm sure pricing will be very similar to LS1 headers. Mild steel = $500-600 add $275 for stainless, $260 for coated. Something like that. All kooks stuff makes power and these will be no different. I bet they will make more power than any other header for the LT1.

Stainless is better. Never changes and has good heat disapation.

SS, Ceramic coated. The coating is what keeps the heat in. SS is good because it doesn't rust, but if you lived in a rust-free zone they'd last long anyway.

Again, I wouldn't assume anything about increases in power over dyno-proven headers. But hey, it's your $$ and your're the one who has to get them installed, etc.JMHO

I would be very interested if they came out with some headers. I have been considering FLP due to the fact that they have the best ground clearance, and that they are not prone to leaking at the collectors.

I think that Kooks should let some more information out about what sort of design they have in mind.

Would they have a smaller collector for those of us with ground clearance in mind?

Will they be a one piece header or slip fit collector?

Will they offer a Y-pipe? Will it come with cats? How about dual cut outs?

In my opinion, there would be a strong market for large tube headers of top notch quality. Everybody want's to get the most out of thier combo, and when you spend 10-15 grand on a stroker+nitous/forced induction its foolish to not spend the extra couple hundred for the best. I would in a second!

Kooks - At the very least, make up a prototype or two and post some pics and results. You can use my car as a test mule

Somebody else here has to be interested in quality 1 7/8 primary headers. With all the insane combo's floating around this board...... imagine the power increase!

I'd be very interested, if they can offer different style collectors.

I would like oval tube collectors to retain ground clearance for when I lower the car. I know these type collectors are already made, so if they could offer the headers without collectors for less money, or offer their own oval-tube collectors, that'd be perfect.

Oval collector? I have never seen one, do you have a link so I can see it.

Sounds like the perfect solution to ground clearance issues.

Do hooker LT's affect ground clearance?
