Kooks, Jet Hot, Pacesetters?
Kooks, Jet Hot, Pacesetters?
I want a good set of headers, and I know this question has been asked before but I need some advice coming direct from other F Body people.
I want my headers to sound mint, give great torque and hp gains and be built to last. But i'm hearing that Kooks is the only header that'll give all that.
So basically my question, can Kooks justify the other 200$ on top of Jet Hot and the 400$ on top of Pacesetters? I want headers so bad because of the bottleneck my exhaust is giving the cam. I just want to make sure that I don't regret my choice. I know Pacesetters are cheap and are great, but why just settle for them when Kooks are 10x better!! Don't know that for sure, so thats why i'm asking

Re: Kooks, Jet Hot, Pacesetters?
well the kooks are made of stainless steel so they would last the longest probably, they will all pretty much be the same power wise so it just depends on how much you want to spend, i'm happy with my pacesetters and paied under 300 for them.

You think I should just stop thinking into it so much and just get the Pacesetters?
Make the same power, thicker then Jet Hot, sound nasty (Good), and are coated (How is their coating btw)?
Would this be everything needed for a header and plug/wire install?
Felpro Gaskets, Stage 8 Locking Bolts, O2 Sensors Extensions, Taylor OTVC Wires, and NGK TR55 Plugs?
Can you guys think of anything else?
Re: Kooks, Jet Hot, Pacesetters?
If you are willing to pay a little extra $, go with the kooks. Since they are SS, they will last longer. If not, get coated Pacesetters. I do not recommend Jet-Hot LT's because the new design of them makes it very difficult to put the driver's side header in.

Check-out my previous post and all the replies to "Kooks LT1 Headers are great!" Possibly that thread will help you make your header choice. The Kooks are the best LT1 headers available for the F-Body. Stainless steel is the way to go and the plugs are much easier to change with the Kooks.

Re: Kooks, Jet Hot, Pacesetters?
I say go pacesetters. Ive heard nothing but good things about their coating, and can attest to their quality first hand. I bought them back last year when they were first coming out, and was pleasently surprised. I cant justify to myself spending what kooks is asking for a set of headers when you can buy a very very good product from pacesetter for less than half. If it were me i would just get the pacesetters and put the rest of the money towards getting your heads ported or something like that.
Re: Kooks, Jet Hot, Pacesetters?
Pacesetter $450 and you get coated longtubes, and from what ive heard. When pacesetter switched to their new Longtubes for the LT1 in mid 2004 you can install both headers from the top without the usual hassle.

I would get the pacesetters unless i found a killer deal on some cheap used Kooks. Pacesetters seem to fit well, are cheap, and don't have a slip fit primary, a big selling point to me.
