Jet Hot long tube install nightmare

I have installed Jet Hot long tubes on my 95 Z28,and the driver side flange is cocked up into the floorpan. The y pipe will not bolt up or clear the transmission mount.Could motor mounts be the problem or could the headers be welded up wrong? Please help!!!

I had the same problem with my hooker lt's. Did you use an energy suspension tranny mount by chance? Well anyways I ended up having to go back to the stock tranny mount because the ES tranny mount I bought was too thick.

Just the driverside is cocked up.The tranny has never been out<and we ground the side flat on the tranny mount. The driverside flange is hitting the bottom of the car.

One thing you could try is lossening all of the bolts on the header (not completely) so that the header can wiggle slightly. This will allow you to tilt the header back and fourth some. You could get about another 1/4" floor clearance by doing this.

Would the header go into the same place when retighting the header bolts?

LTs are a PITA anyways. i wiggled tugged pried etc with my pace setters for hours. could be your mounts. ive heard of this before, someone suggested poly mounts on an earlier post diff. topic. i would try to unbolt the headers (not all the way, just loosened) so you can wiggle, you will gain some room, like said above.

I'd try some poly mounts, now would be the time to put them in too.

Re: Jet Hot long tube install nightmare

I had simular problems with the driver's side collector...I replaced the motor mounts with poly units AND installed a tubular K-member which netted zero gains with clearance. I eventually stuck about a 5 ft bar into the collector and "persuaded" the whole header to bend somewhat so as to clear the underside of the car. In addition to that, the y-pipe wasn't even close to bolting up to the two collector flanges, so I had to shorten the y-pipe and cut off the flanges on both the y-pipe and collectors and use s.s. band clamps on the pipes. Not a real good fit for what is considered a supposedly good quality system. My experience has been that there is not much that is truely "bolt-on". Although there are several others that claim their headers just "fell" right into place without a struggle. Best of luck to you!!!

I have Pacetter LT's on my 94 Z28. The collector hit the floor board on the driver side. So I installed a Turn buckle on the engine that pulled the motor down like a sold mount. It pulled the header of the floor board. You could try that.

Yikes welded, now that sounds like a problem. You coulda used band clamps for the headers and Y-pipe.
