I was wondering bolt ons aside, and f/i aside, what is the most extreme things you can do with a 350 lt1? For example, what setup would yield the most hp with at least some stock parts.

 

With stock parts you are going to be somewhat limited. You could build a pretty stout 355 using the stock block, crank and rods (might want to upgrade on the rods though!). Buy a good set of forged pistons to use and have the stock heads max ported with larger valves. Then use a solid roller camshaft and valvetrain to match and add a good shot of juice and you will make some good HP.

 

take off down the track and at the 1/8 mile spray a 500 shot and coast. and call it a day. till you build your new motor. (note: spray till it blows up)

 

NA wise it's pull it apart and make a real race motor out of it. The whole blueprint thing..... Port the heads etc.... A good 355 would make tons more power than a stock short block LT1 with the same top end on it, mostly because of the limitations the stock parts put on you.

This question is sort of like asking "How much money can you fit into a 1 gallong jug?" Well - that depends what denominations of bills you use. Speaking of bills - how far you take that Lt-1 depends how much money you have. When you say "use some stock parts" what are we limited to - the stock oil pump and pan? Stock camshaft and heads (unported heads?). The question is really broad.
