intake question
 
i have a 96 lt1 engine and i am converting to carb.
my friend has a carb intake that looks exactly like what i need but it is from a 80's or early 90's model engine do u think it will still work. i dnt know the exact year and the vin number is non-visible the car just sets in his yard. i dnt wanna buy it then it be usless.

No, biggest reason is the bolt holes are different

Well, thats not as big a reason, as the lt1 doesn't need them

I believe I read in the LT1/LT4 rebuild book that only One intake would work, but I'm not sure what it was.... thinking it was a gm part

You can convert a Gen 1 SBC intake manifold. Relocate a couple bolt holes, machine for different bolt angle. The water passages in the Gen 1 intake are a non-issue because the LT1 intake is dry. People do it all the time with single-plane intakes.
