intake milling

Just curious if most of you that have done ported/shaved heads (LE, AI, TEA) had to mill the intake to get it to seal correctly and not pose a vacuum leak? Been chasing a lean condition on my car for years and the tuner said I have a leak somewhere. Just trying to narrow things down before I just say the hell with it.

Re: intake milling

It depends on how much the heads were milled. If the bolt holes line up it's probably not the ports leaking though a machinist could tell you for sure. :)

they were milled .010 and i used impala head gaskets. the bolt holes were kind of iffy but it has been a while so i dont remember exactly. im just ready to give it another go to try and get the car running

I had my block decked .018" and am also running .027" head gaskets. There was no way the bolt holes were going to line up so I had the manifold milled.
