If the LT1 intake is like all the others i've seen, you just disconnect everything and drain the coolant (which you said you've done) pull the bolts and lift that sucker off the top. If it hangs on anything on the way up you've forgotten to disconnect something, do it and start over. Be sure to mark where everything goes so you don't forget. Once that is done, on the heads you could pull the rockers and take out the pushrods, or loosen the rockers, or you could probably get by without doing that, but when you go to get the heads back on you'll need to. Once again mark where all your pushrods and rockers go, just to be safe (which cylinder, intake/exhaust). You could also loosen your rockers up some, enough to get the pushrods out, and that would probably be the best way if you can still get to the head bolts under the valve cover. Once that is all done, unbolt the heads and lift them off. Sounds like you've already got a pretty good idea. Maybe someone else can chime in as far as lt1 specifics. --J.Bird

Why do I have to pull rockers and push rods? I am taking heads to get ported, the guy who is doing them, will dis-assemble them.

well, like i said, when you go to put the heads back on, you'll need to have the rockers loose or off to get your pushrods back in anyways, also, i'm not sure whether you can get to all the head bolts w/rockers on, but assuming you can, you won't have to pull them all the way off
Won't take but a sec.

Yes, you have to take off the rockers to get at the head bolts that are underneath them. Also disconnect the emmissions tube from the exhaust mainfold to the back of the intake. If your not buying new bolts for the heads and intake, then label and keep track off what bolt went were.
