Intake
Intake
Hey guys, I have a problem with my intake on my 93 Z28. I purchased this car a few months ago, havn't driven it too much but a week ago I noticed that the cone filter was off of the hose and sitting on the panel behind the bumper (K&N CAI). No problem, I put it back on and was good to go except it came off again. I didn't want to undo the panel from under the car again as it's winter up here and the car is in storage till spring now anyway. The other problem is that I noticed a crack in the plastic piece that connects the intake to the motor, it's right near the clamp at the very top and is about 3 inch's long and feeds right into the hose. Do I have to go to my GM dealer and order this piece? Anyone know what it would run me?
Just curious to know these things as I'm saving up for parts for the car over winter.
Thanks, Kyler

Re: Intake
Well if the cone filter keep coming off did you try holding it into position with like a clamp. Also the rubber piece that you are talking about that connects your intake to your engine, Well I think you are talking about the 1LE elbow. People usually buy the after market ones that delete the air silencer just to get a nice roar out of their intakes. They go for about $60. Hopefully I was a help.
Re: Intake
O rrrry? Only 60 bucks, well hell yeah lol, no problem then. The guy who had the car before put the headers, exhuast, and intake on so I'll ask him if that piece is stock or not. Thanks for the help.
Re: Intake
For the piece you can check out www.slponline.com . Also it really don't matter if it's stock or not. If it's not stock then the sliencer is already gone, or if it's stock then the silencer is there. Good luck.
Re: Intake
The 1LE elbow came on 1LE cars. That's the stock elbow that came without the donkey d!ck, also known as the air silencer. I think I paid about $40.00 for my 1LE elbow. Or go aftermarket such as Trick Flow or Vortech.
I had the exact same problem with my K&N intake. It ended up being cracked at the bottom and just wouldn't fit no matter what I did. that's when I decided to go with the Moroso setup. I would pull the liner and check to see what's really going on up there. It's only a couple of 10mm bolts.
