Re: Installing headers?? Long Tubes

well i can do it myself a friend or pair of friends helped but yeah
its a day project (or night if you start a 8 pm like i did) for a newb its about 12 hours worth of work
and for LT's you need an off road y pipe for it to meet up with the stock exhaust but even then you need to do some mods to the stock exhaust (mainly just cotting about a foot of the I pipe

Re: Installing headers?? Long Tubes

They say the hardest part is getting all your old stuff off, I kinda belive that since when I went to Hooker LT's to RK Sports (emissions) it was ALOT easier than the original swap from manifolds to LT's. You honestly wanna know the hardest part?? That friggin, godawaful DIPSTICK. I actually have a permently disfigured fingernail from the RK swap. Getting that dipstick back in almost drove me insane (well more insane)

My final impressions were while it is a pretty tough job, its nowhere near as hard as most people make it out to be. Just take your time and think things through.

noo ya dont need a welder it might be a nice finishing touch but not neccesary

iv got pacessetar Long tubes and the pacesettar y pipe
the y pipe is slip fit so it just slips on to the collecters of the headers and then you use exhaust clamps to clamp it down

Re: Installing headers?? Long Tubes

check your other thread for welding comments but
i actually recomend you drive your car at least once with open headers cause it just sounds so good
and the pacesetter coated lt's and y cost me about 500 bucks
and they actually are really nice pieces
i dont have any numbers yet but i can tell you that the night i got the install finished up i took her for a test drive and on 235 street tires in about 40 degree weather i shifted into second and blew up my rear end
so im assuming that there was a significant power increase lol

Re: Installing headers?? Long Tubes

Looking back on my header install, make sure you have a nice jack and are willing to use it on your oil pan to get the Pacesetters in there.. I was kind of leary about it at first but as was well after it was done. You will thank yourself after you drive it and every other time you go to change plugs.. Trust me.
