impala head gaskets with a .030 bore?

hey guys i am putting my motor back together and think that i am going to go with the impala head gaskets over the mr.gasket head gasket, because of the abilitly of the impala gasket to withstand the effects of nitrous better than the mr. gasket, gasket. Anyway to my question i have a .030 bore and summit say that the impala head gasket is a 4.000 inch bore is thisi information correct and willthis gasket work for me?

The gasket bore is larger than the engines bore so you're good to go....

Bore

If I am not mistaken the bore in your engine would now be 4.030 which would be larger than a stock 4.00 impala bore gasket.

This fact would hold true if i was working with the stock bore size (4.00) but i am not i am working with a .030 over bore (4.030).

Exactly

Yes..as you said..you now have a 4.030 bore. Why would you consider putting a 4.00 gasket on it? You need a gasket made for a 4.030 build.

Guys, guys, the stock gasket is 4.125" in diameter. It works on all rebuilds possible with the LT1 block.....

You don't need a special gasket to go to .030 over or even .060 over....

Other things matter..rings, etc, but not these gaskets.

I'm done..I said it twice. If you want to find a gasket for .030" over go ahead....

A 4.125 gasket will work with no issues. I just prefer to use a 4.060 on a engine with a 4.030 bore. Both are available through Summit or numerous other suppliers.

Why? What is your reasoning for being to tight?

Try this link and it is about 1/2 of the way down the same page, left hand side. http://books.google.com/books?id=Aat...esult&resnum=3

SCE Copper

I have just always liked the SCE copper gaskets and have ran them with .030 larger than bore size with good results to this point. Everyone to their own..was just giving my preference.

So what would you consider the right size gasket bore for this 4.030 cylinder? Any special prep required for this copper gasket you like? Is it only for NA or does it shine in other applications?

Copper Info

I am enclosing a link for your browsing if you ever have a interest in installing the SCE copper head gasket. Yes..quite a bit of extra work involved but they can actually be re-used. Like I said..just something I like..not trying to push my likes off on anyone. The stock 4.125 gasket is more than adequate.
