im a idiot
Hey guys last night i was going down a country road way to fast and went around a really sharp turn...then i flew off into a field about 65 miles a hour. The field was really muddy and I had to be pulled out.. my ? is now when Im driving down the road the steering wheel shakes when im going like 50mph. It doesnt seem to be out of alingment the wheel just vibrate. could mud in the wheel be causing it or what other things could have gotten messed up.

You might have bent a rim. If you're lucky all you did was lose a wheel weight. I'd say go have your tires balanced and see if that helps. :)
Ps. Slow down. ;) |
No, it's "I'm an idiot". :D
You might have bent a tie rod end that is making your front wheels "fight" each other. Might want to have it looked at. |
Bet you'll never do that again, but here in Ohio we do have those pesky corn fields everywhere;) . I'd get it checked out.

couldve just gotten some mud on the inside of the rim which would throw the balance off.

you probably have a lot of mud caked on the wheels thats causing it to be out of balance, but thats an iffy thing. or could have bent a wheel as mentioned go get them rebalanced and find out(do the cheap things first before going more in depth)

I slid off the interstate once doing about 65. Went into the median which was covered with about a foot of snow. My steering wheels was shaking badly from all the snow and mud in the wheels. This was in my old 89 Buick Regal. You should have seen all the mud and grass caught in the serpantine belt. :) It went away finally after driving slowly for about 30 miles.

Take it into Sears if you have one. Ballance the tires for $8 each and they should be able to put it on the rack and shake down the front end for you just to be sure.

You should never call yourself an idiot or any other derogatory names that may lower your self esteem...let me do it...YOU ARE A MUD BOGGIN, WANNA BE OFF-ROADIN MORON! I'm just kiddin! It's probably just mud on the back side of the rims. :)

Welcome to the club of (WDIDT) why did I do that. We all have are moments...:D
|
i have my truck covered in mud all the time, seriously covered in mud. it gets everywhere and you get some really odd vibrations get it cleaned with a power washer. everywhere and see if it still vibrates
|
You know, people rag on the F-Body for looking like a 4x4 on stock suspension. But you took it to a whole new level
You might wanna clean the "mud" out of your pants too. I'm sure they're caked up as well after that show. ;) |

Yee Haw cars Nice pic of a third gen... The only thing that I could think to all the good suggestions here, is to make sure the air pressure in the tires are correct and even to each other. I had the same effect once after the right front tire got attacked by a pothole. Toe-in was screwed up. --ron |
