Use a piece of hose slipped over the porcelain to give you some added reach. Make sure you get it threaded in by hand, because you don't want to gimp the threads. (been there, done that on #2 )

Did you try the "hose" trick?

Too slow on that one.

Did I? I have not used it on my f-body, but have used it on other cars. I actually have a little store-bought stubby rubber tool that does the same thing. Works pretty well for recessed plug locations.

I like the post of some guy that said he found a new plug access tool that works great...his 13 year old daughter.

AC compressor in the way from the bottom. if you pull the alternator brace, too, it may give you more room. i have big hands myself, so i know how you feel.

I always used that trick on my 77 Z28. It worked well enough, but I never could get the angle right for the TA.

My S10 was the easiest thing in the world to change plugs on, with the exception of my sister's honda car. There were no fender wells so I could reach in, remove the plug wire, and swap the plugs on the ones I couldn't reach from the top.

BTW, when I had my accessories out a few weeks ago (everything but the AC compressor), I still couldn't do anything with that particular plug from the bottom of the car.

Let's see, 13 years, 9 months, and however long it takes me to knock up the girl friend till I get my new spark plug tool. Then i have to hope it's a girl.

you can't even get the plug started? if you can't get it started i dunno what to tell you.

but i developed a trick of tightening the plugs once you get them started. this will only work if it's the kinda socket like i have (MAC tools), or maybe some others do, if it has the little hole that goes all the way through for the little ball on the drive of the ratchet.

put a regular 5/8 inch, 1/2 inch drive socket on there. not a deep well. you need to put it on there with that little hole facing up. it should go all the way on there, the porcelin part of the plug will go through with the 1/2 inch drive. then take a punch, and stick it in that little hole and turn it, it'll only turn 1/4 turn at a time or maybe only 1/8 turn at a time. it takes forever but it's the only way i could get #2 tight.

i did all that with everything on(alternator, AIR, etc) ......last night as a matter of fact. on plug #2, so i know it works. atleast for me.

edit: i have headers....so that makes a difference.

Yeah, you could use a name brand tool, or...

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...spagename=WDVW

It's just like the one I made, and less frustrating. Yep, I bought one when I lost the one I made.

It works, you'll need a 3/4 " wrench to use it though. I grabbed a wrachet wrench and I can change all the plugs in less than an hour now.
