I talked to a guy about wiring my electric pump up on 97 Z28 he told me at steering column they were 2 wires hot when key was on 1, he said went to the opit spark not to come off it. He said come off it he said he would send me a picture with tape on it does anyone know what the color of the wire is. And how to get to it. Going to my son house tonight and see if he will post some pictures of the rebuild. 90% of parts are Power Coating. Thanks again

I read your post about the pump wiring and it really is fairly easy. I went and looked at mine since I did it 23 years ago, still running. Using that 30132 relay it would be wired like this. The only difference is I used another 12v switched source that I don't remember.

The large red wire to the back of the alternator red wire, battery 12v
Large blue wire to the pump pigtail blue wire with the fuse
Black ground to the body
Small blue wire is the 12v switched to the brown air pump wire if it's hot all the time
Black wire from the pump pigtail is grounded to the alternator bracket

If you need a key ON power source, get it from the fuse panel. You might be able to find a spot in the under hood panel and not have to run a wire inside the car. Use a meter to test any open lugs.

I don’t see any wire that goes direct from the ignition switch to the Opti. The Opti gets 12-volt power from the PCM.

Check the factory service manual, or Shoebox’s copies of the ignition switch and ignition system wiring diagrams.

See post #6 for connecting it to the circuit for the deleted AIR pump. Provides a 15amp fuse and a relay. Just need to find the wire from the PCM to the AIR pump relay, cut it, and splice into an ignition switched wire in the fuse box.

Don't be intimidated, there are only 5 wires and 2 of them are grounds. The 12v switched power wire only draws .2 amps per Painless Wiring. It's just a trigger wire. Probably just about any wire under the hood that comes on with the key and stays on could be used. What I said above is exactly what the Painless directions are with the exception of eliminating the 30 amp breaker and using the 20 amp fuse that came with the pump. It really is that easy. I know it took me a while to understand it years ago when I did mine.
