I really want a hypertech programmer 30027 for my 160 thermostat but geez at 400 dollars??? when will the price ever come down???

 

I doubt the price ever will come down and to spend that kind of money just to accomodate your 160 degree stat is ridiculuous. Check out madz28.com or pcmforless.com, both do custom tunes for a fraction of the cost of a hypertech programmer and they can actually guarantee results.

 

The high price is a hint that you are wasting your money. 2000GTP posted some good alternatives. You can even do programming, yourself, for less (depending on the year of your car).

 

or just keep the stock settings and buy a $50 fan switch and be done with it.

Get a group purchase of lt1edit or a single license of tunercat. $50 for a fan switch would be half the cost of tuning software you will use the life of the car. Do it right. I had a Sentra with a bad ac compressor relay that I put a switch on.Ghetto lol.

Not sure what year your car is, but I recently saw a 93 hypertech chip for $20.00 in the for sale section here on CZ28.

 

Even at a cheap price Hypertech isn't worth it, do a search and youy WILL find posts about it causing lost time and time being gained over it by cheaper mailorder tuning. Hell $50 for a switch is stupid when custom tuning starts at that price and can not just do the fans but fuel, timing and correct for gears.

 

Don't buy the Hypertech. There is no reason the product you get from them should cost what they charge. Regardless of price the customer service you get from the tuners on the board will be better than you will ever get from hypertech. I have the Madz28 tune and can not begin to say enough good things about him.
