For hp estimate experts....

ok im lookin to put a 383 stroker in and then do a .030 overbore then i will be putting in a hotcam kit with LT headers and a catback flowmaster american thunder exhaust. I will have my ecm programmed for the setup. How much power/ torque can i look forward to? ( i already have a k&n aircharger, the heads exhaust ports were smoothed and the head was plained .008)
Thanks for all the help.

With what you have probably 365rwhp. Torque always stumps me.:D

Briank8811 Dec 7, 2003 10:21 PM

now if were talking flywheel/crank hp what are we speeking? Thanks for the first reply. I challenge u guys to come up with some 1/4 potential #'s with a 150 shot of N20 and the kit described above.

I don't think much about flywheel HP and not much other people do either. As far as 1/4mi. times.....with a 150 shot, I figure somewhere around low 11's ....high 10's with a dead hook.

Just curious, how much power should the motor in my sig make when I'm done? The heads on it are going to be completely stock so i know thats a big restriction. Add edelbrock headers to that list as well...not sure on the cam specs, it was in there when i got it...thanks...

Id say not even close to that, he basically has stock heads...

Just a suggestion but with the money and time your putting into that engine, stay away from the flowmaster, JMO flow numbers arn't to good for those

Hey Brian...... is your heads ported and polished or just cleaned up. I looked at your sig and it says ported and polished. But as the gentleman pointed out.....you also have polished exhaust ports. Thats a big difference.

that has to be one of the most BS questions ive ever heard. you need to know what the heads flow, CR, the tune, alt., a long with any other number of things.

my 383 will be @ 630 - 660 in high alt. but most stroke kits are advertised as 450-475.

what BS question are you talking about?????

Briank8811 Dec 8, 2003 05:42 AM

as i said in one of my first posts i have the exhaust ports smoothed and polished and the heads are plained .008 while the intake was (will be) gasket matched and it will be hot tanked to remove and gunk in it. I am in orlando so im about 4 feet above sea level. The ECU is just tuned to utilize the 383.

S.J.S. Dec 8, 2003 05:49 AM

Okay....I gotcha. You should take it out of your sig. then so when you ask questions....guys can better help you with the guesstimates.;)

DrewHMS97SS Dec 8, 2003 01:32 PM

the how much hp question. so much depends on the heads, that its obsurd to ask what a 383 will do. i guess if he stated all stock except the 383. this is the same type of question as what kind of hp will i get from XXXcfm heads? when we all know all flow benches are different
