How in the world ....

Do you remove the drivers side 02 sensor on a 97 SS? I can't even see it. It's on top of the cat. I give up.

TIA

Summitt has a great socket that allows for the tail to come out the side. I assume something needs to be removed but you probably knew that.

What a pita. I gave up and continued tearing down my spare engine. Someone has to know an easier way. I couldn't find anything on Shoebox's site.

Its been a while since I looked around there but I think the easiest way to access that O2 is by removing the cat. Look from up top first if you didn't already to see if its accessable that way, I don't think it is though.

Joe,
I'm going to do that but wanted to wait until my vette motor was ready to be swapped in.

Mine had to come out from underneath with the cat removed. Getting a wrench around it is going to be difficult also. You will probably have to make a tool to get it out. Go get a cheap 7/8" offset, box wrench and cut the 7/8" end off to about 4". Enough handle on the 7/8" section that you can get a grip on it. Then cut a section out of the 7/8" box end, enough to pass the O2sensor wires through. Pass the sensor wires through cut out box end, slip the wrench over the sensor and do your best to not bust your fingers getting the sensor loose. Hope this helps.
