how much hp can a stock lt1 bottom end hold up?

I am looking at going with the LE 2 head/cam setup with supporting mods and a stock bottom end. I heard this generally puts you around 400-420 at the wheel (so close to 500 at the crank), is this going to be all I can push that stock bottom end or will I still be able to run a small shot of nitrous??

small shot being how much? the stock bottom ends, i hear, are good for ~ 450-500rwhp. now a lot of it will depend on your particular block. some have added a hotcam kit and tossed bearings and others have LE3 head/cam packages and are fine.

Alot of it seems to be in the luck of the draw to me. Some can spin there stock bottoms to 7k daily and others have problems when turning a little over 6k, such as i did. I think the amount of hp it can hold follows the same general rule so i would spend some money on the bottom if you plan on making anywhere near 400rwhp because i wouldnt want to spend all that money on the top and have to worry about it sitting on a ticking bomb. Youll have to wait for someone else to chime in about the nitrous, not my strongest subject.

I was thinking somewhere around a 75 shot, i dont plan on running it a lot. I would prolly just wanna run it a couple times at the track to see what it would run and to f-ck up some of the sh-t talkin DSM guys out here, cuz a lot of them are ussually running in the low low 11s, so I think i'd be right around there with the LE 2 head/cam package and a 75 shot if the car holds together that is.

yeah you should be all right. like you mentioned, bolt on all of Lloyd's stuff and see how it runs for a couple thousand miles (or an oil change period) If all is cool, then slap on a 50-75 NX shot and go to town. I'd personally start at a 50 and move up 25 from there until you, and your engine, get somewhat accustomed to it.

There is a guy with an Impala running 10s on a stock bottom with dual power adders and a second with even stock heads coming very close, both are supercharged plus juice. Not sure what the actual power numbers are for either car but I think you will agree it takes more power to make an Impala go that fast than it will your car. Then you do get some guys who spin bearings right after a cam swap, I have heard of VERY few crank/rods/piston failures and the piston failures seem to mostly be due to lean with a power adder.

dont forget the impy has an iron block AND iron heads. they can handle more of a shot stock for stock than an LT1 with an iron block and aluminum heads.
