Yeah, I had it done. It can get expensive. It makes quite a difference though, at least on my car.

What factors increase cost. Say I just want it to turn my fans on sooner and adjust my speedo for the T56 conversion?

Talking Striaght up truth

Go here http://www.pcmforless.com they are AWESOME, and work is supurb.

DO you have access to a laptop?? If so you can for like 75$ or so have your programs emailed to you and have unlimited updates. All you need is a AKM cable

http://www.akmcables.com/ for the cable

http://www.akmcables.com/dss.htm for the datamaster program for diagnostic software, and you can get free scan for free.

Cost isnt much, but even for a few hundered buck the data and tuning is invaluable

yeah my buddy has a laptop. I'm going to buy a cable and use his computer with a free scan program. I don't plan on doing any programing myself because I don't plan on buying any programs that allow me to edit or a laptop of my own. I just want to use it for scanning purposes. I'm assuming I have to buy a program in order to get updates, right?

Hey, if you need a cable, I have one for sale. Only used it a couple of times and it worked great. Email me for some pics or if you are interested. I'll let it go way cheaper than you can buy it.

Yeah I think I'm going to go with the pcmforless tuning. All I really want is my speedo calibrated and my fans to come on sooner but if I can get my computer tuned at the same time I'm all for it. Thanks guys.

Question

It shocks me when people overlook LT1 Edit. Why get a bang for the buck car then waste money by giving your PCM and have forced programming someone else did?

Damn 600 bucks for all of you guys paying that much. I got mine done for 150 bucks and every retune is free with dave www.lt1dave.com DONT DO IT YOURSELF. it is more complicated then you may think. It can take a couple hours even for an experienced tunner becasue for everycar its different. They go into all the tables and adjust everything to fit your car perfect. It is well worth it. You can expect gains of up to 20 hp even on a lightly modded car. damn 600 bucks i feel bad for you guys although i guess it could cost more if you have OBDII

Well considering the XE cams are customs grinds & look at their prices, if you go with same material for the cam it's probably $20-$30 or so more, than there is Billet cams etc... but their expensive custom or not.

I don't know for sure, but it appears that LT1Dave is a mail order tuner. We're referring to actual on-Dyno tuning done with a wideband O2 and all that good stuff. If you can get that done for $150, please let us know where. And as far as doing it myself, I don't have the first clue on how to adjust settings for optimal performance, and I'm sure many others can relate to that.
