How hard is it to get too...
how hard is it to get to the trans to motor bolts from under the car. Im getting ready to pull the motor for a winter rebuild and just wondering how hard soem stuff will be. Im planning on pulling the intake off and pulling the motor out through the top. What do you guys use to help tilt the motor to the right angle to get it out. All the stuff ive used in the past wont clear the cowl. DOnt wanna get ghetto and use just a chain.
Re: How hard is it to get too...
i disconected the trans lines the trans mount and drive shaft then took off the motor mounts and slid the whole assembly forward and it was east to get to them after it was slid forward

TPIS Happy Hooker is the tool to tilt and remove the engine out of the car through the top. You can take it out with the tranny.

Last I checked was about $40
You an also drop the whole thing through the bottom, with the tranny still attached to it.
If you want to take out the tranny first, it's doable, you'll just need some looooong extensions.

i was thinking soimething with like the handle you can crank and it moves the wieght front or back. I usually pull the motor with the trans in the car still. I guess ill pull the motor/trans togetehr on this though. Just wanna make sure i have the right stuff when i get started. Ive heard the motor comes out fairly easy if you pull the intake off. (through the top) Do i have to hjack the car way up to get the trans to tilt down enough to pull it throiugh the top with the cowl in the way?

With the intake off you can get to the upper bolts and the lower bolts from the bottom. There is not alot of turning room on some of the bolts, but if you have a ratcheting wrench it will make it easier.

ya i usually got some good craftsman extensions stacked as long as my arm and a quality craftsman 5/8? wobbly socket and got the bolts out fairly easily on other projects. Just wondering if id run into anything funny or if theres a better way to do it. YOu can never know too many tips n tricks.
