How do you know when to replace optispark

How do you know when to replace the optispark? I replaced the waterpump last year! My 96 Z28 around the 2000 rpm range feels like its losing power, and starts hesitating. i nevered got a tune up ever on the car and has almost 94000 miles! Please help

I lost two last summer. Even a new one, but, I am quite modified. Loss of power @ climbing rpm is a symptom of a bad opti. Usually it is the rotor contact wear and copper contact comming loose. I was stranded twice, and, it's no fun changing an opti.
