How do I know if I have a chip?

How do I know if I have a chip?
I bought the car used and the previous owner said something about the car having a Hypertech chip so I have always just trusted that it was chipped. Is there a way for me to check and actually see something to know for sure? Thanks.

locate the ecm, check the actual chip, i would think it will say Hypertech or something...
not positive where hte chip is located since i have a 96...but someone will chime in
