How to Clean Oxidized Aluminum???

Does anyone have any suggestions on how one might clean extremely oxidized aluminum:confused:

I've searched the net and the forum for hours and to my surprise I didn’t find anything on the topic. Are there no cleaning solutions out there to tackle corroded aluminum:confused:

Well if it's normal oxidation just use some mothers polish on it. If its bad you might need to get a drill with a buffing wheel and some compound from Home Depot. If it's super BAD then you will have to take some sand paper to it. Start off with some 80 grit and sand everything smooth. then with 120, then 220, then 400 all the way to 1200 grit then polish it.

That'll work

But are there any specific products for cleaning aluminum oxide? I'm trying to clean some PCM cases and the cases are just too irregular for sandpaper.

I used some stuff called Metal Cleaner on my Intake Manifold and ceramic coated headers. You need to spray it on an area and use a small brass brush to clean the area. Rinse with water and move onto another area. This stuff made my intake shine up very nice.

Cleaned Intake

This might not work well on an electronic enclsure like a PCM but its your call.

Ospho or a acid for etching aluminum works well

hardware stores or automotive paint shops have it.
