GM Performance Parts Lt1/Lt4 crates

Summit lists two factory crate motors on their website for the Gen II engines:

NAL-12534776 for the LT4, which is like $2900, and

NAL-88894196 for the Lt1, which is $4500.

It says they are not available. Were these available for a while , and aren't stocked anymore, yet they are still on the website? Or are they new like the Edelbrock Lt1 stuff that just came out? I know some places like Pace Performance had some LT1/4 engines but they are not available anymore.

Why are the LT4 engines always significantly cheaper? Was this because before Edelbrock came out with the Lt4 intake, that if you didn't have an LT4 intake, you were stuck paying a ton for one on ebay, so most people would just buy the LT1 engine if they blew theirs up? I thought the Lt4 would have been more money.

To be honest with you guys, the reason i'm asking is because i want a factory stock motor, in stock at home, for when i crunch the one ive got in my formula. And if the Lt4 is cheaper, i'll just replace it with one of them.
If i did put an LT4 crate in my formula, would i have to buy an Lt4 computer, or could i just have my lt1 pcm reprogrammed?

GM only keeps making parts for 6-7 years after the last model of that car was made, so I'm pretty sure they stopped with the LTx stuff a couple years ago. Just the heads and intake for an LT4 are going for that now. Should drop soon, though, with the Edelbrock pieces and other aftermarket heads out there.

New lt4 crate engines were available for quite a while quiet as kept. The lt4 engines are no longer available from Summit or Pace parts as of a few days ago. My guess is that there were a few left and no one was buying them because of an intake shortage. With the new Edelbrock intakes finally hitting the market, my guess is that they finally sold the remainder of the crate engines.
