how can you tell if you have bad lifters?

Where would it be leaking? The headers are secure, and the y-pipe is secure. Although, I could only use those 6 inch wrenches to tighten it. How would an exhast sound like that? And it's more of a tighten the lash, it goes away for a min or so, then comes back kind of deal.

Did you get that noise figured out. I had a header collector gasket literally blow out due to not being tight enough. just my .02

Are you running the gmpp rocker arms? I have one that sounds just like that after the hot cam install with those rockers and after adjusting it comes back. Weird!

The things is driving me insane. It did it stock, then I went to headers, no change. Went to non-self adj. RR, no change. Now, I put 8 lifters from my 305 in the pass. side bank (they did not tick), and we'll see what happends when I fire it up. It could be loose guides too, I was told, but they all seem to have similar play (judging by eye). I don't know wtf.
