MADWOLF!!! How can you tell Comp R lifters by looking at them?

I picked some up and I want to make sure they are comp R's. Anything I should look for? Is the part number written in some kind of ink or engraved, because they are used and no P/N is on them. They look pretty much identical to the stockers but I already know that the housing, plunger, etc. etc. is the same, only difference would be internally in tolerances and spring.

Please LMK as soon as possible as I'm trying to finsih this cam swap

EDIT: Madwolf, if you could follow through on finding out the difference that would be great... I talked to comp and they said that the retaining clip would be beefier. Also, they said that they stop etching the P/N on them. I need to know asap so I know if I need to get new lifters or not. Thanks.

I have some new ones in a bucket of oil sitting in the garage and waiting to be installed tomorrow. I'll let you know tomorrow, but just from briefly looking at them, I couldn't tell that much of a difference. I'll look more carefully though.

Just installed mine yesterday. Not a single number or difference from stockers. I bought them new from Thunder Racing.

The only slight difference I noticed was in the body color. The Comp Rs had the same stainless color all over while the stockers were more grey on some portions. Could be because of wear though.

You mean retaining clips on the top where the pushrod goes?
My intake is still off so I'll take a look again tonight.

Suppose it should be mentioned that mine were purchased some 3yrs ago or so - before the factory problem (i.e. it burning down LOL) and subsequent switch .

The ones I got were stockers... I just made a deal for some comp r's with only 600 miles on them. They will be here in time to finish my car this weekend. And I saw pics and they are the REAL comp R's haha. Thanks for everybody that answered.

kinda weird that yours look identicle

ding ding ding.. they shouldn't look identical. There are some differences, the lifter body itself is slightly different. The retaining clips are different. Oh and the most obvious difference between them, The Comp R's come in a Comp Box
