How bad would it be...
.... to put some thick oil, like some Lucas addative thick stuff, to cover up a rod knock for a little while, just so I can drive the car untill the shop has room to do my motor swap?
I've already got another motor to swap my heads/cam over to with a new oil pump and new lifters. Is there any possiability that I could mess up the heads/cam doing this? I'm not talking about going out and beating on the car, I just want to beable to drive it for a little while, I miss the lope of the cam the sound of the exhaust and just being in the car. |
Re: How bad would it be...
If something more were to happen to that rod, it could ruin your whole day. OTOH, it might survive for a little while. It's a roll of the dice. If you drive it much you will most likely need a crankshaft.

I've got a whole new motor, crank and everything. That's why I just asked about the heads/cam. |
Re: How bad would it be...
A catastrophic failure can take out a head, too. It just depends on the nature of the failure.

I think I'll play my luck card then, 'cause I don't plan on running it hard enough or long enough for anything catastrophic to happen.
