Re: horsepower estimate?

Just guessing based on my 383, I would say 340-350 at the rear wheels based on an automatic.
My old 350 with a 230x236 put out 305 hp but ran 12.2 with 3:23 gears and with the 4:56 gears it did not have enough rpms to make it to the finish line but still ran a 12.3 ( I feathered the gas at 6500 rpms to finish). I also had only an alternator to drive plus the WP but the electric WP will not give you that much of an increase in HP.
My 383 to 12:1 cr, Lloyds head, 2.055" intake 1.6" exh valves and a Solid Roller cam made 401 hp at the rear wheels with a turbo 400 and 500 HP off the flex plate. Keep in mind also that my car weighs only 3000 lbs.

One other thing; I am pulling the old 350 apart and selling the 230 x 236 .050 @ 112 and the CM .600" lift springs as I need the block to build another 383.

Re: horsepower estimate?

read what i typed again. I said 10rwhp over stock ci, meaning a 350. If everything remained constant except for going from a 350 to a 383, you'd only see about a 10rwhp gain if you havent had the heads worked.
