high idle ??????
 

My engine idles at about 650 rpms when it is cold. As the engine begins to warm it will increase about a 100 rpm per miniute. when it gets up to temp it will be at about 1100rpms and stay there until its shut of and cools. i have cleaned the iac pintile and the housing. Also checked the iac ohms they are at 56 ohms and the wiring is also at the right voltage. i only have a code reader right now but i had it checked and they said thar the count was 3 i dont know what it should be. could it be the tps? Or should i replace the iac? i have no fault codes. I would appreciate any help .

Check for vaccum leaks and/or any clamps on the intake that might be loose.

the iac should be round about 20 counts when operating temp is reached.

we have the same prob here and have checked all pipes that could leak.

startup let her idle spray wd40 on either side of intake manifold round the joints where it bolts to the heads and let it idle
the wd40 should temporarily seal any leaks round the joints
and monitor the steps on the iac.

did vacuum check on the intake manifold and all pipes leading to it .
the various pipes showed no sign of leakage.
when i checked the vacuum on the intake manifold while idling she registered 20 inches which i believe to be the norm but she would suddenly jump to 23 inches and the revs would climb to above 1000 rpm and the iac would be on 7 steps and climb to 30 + steps.
the rpm would settle back at 650 rpm the vacuum to 20 and the iac to 7steps. this would be very intermittent.

does this call for an intake gasket replacement.??
