Here's my plan. Cut off both cats and install cut-outs where each one was. What are my options? Y pipe is made out of stainless and cut-outs are steel right? Can't weld those I suppose. Can I clamp them and not have them leak? Also, what size is the stock Y pipe? I don't know whether to get the 2.5" cut-outs or the 3" cut-outs? HELP.

If your set on running dual cutouts definately wait to get your Jt Hots onsince then you can get a custom y pipe done with them already welded in. I also think that if you have a y pipe and just 1 cutout on the Driver side bank then I will flow just as good as 2. Then you can keep the cut outs 3in and have a better flowing y pipe.

Won't be getting Jet-Hots for about 2 years . Im 16 and don't have money for headers now. I am buying some 3.73 gears first then have just enough cash for a cheap Y pipe and cut-out. IF i went with a since cut-out, where's the best place to put it as far as loudness and access?

I wouldn't waste my money and time on a y pipe. You won't really see much of a gain from it. I would just put a cutout in your catback. Also, there really is no need to put two cutouts on your y pipe.

I want the Magnaflow exhaust louder too. So I am sure I am going to get a Y pipe. I am still debating on shorty headers in the future cuz they are easier to install. Stainless works Y pipe the one for me? Where would you put the cut-out? Before the rear axle? DO they make any stainless steel cut-outs so I can weld it in? What did you guys do to put in your cut out on stainless exhaust?

save money for some longtubes, I run dual cutouts in my y-pipe about a foot behind the collector of the header. hp gains are nice...
doubt u need it on a near stock car though.

My dad is pretty much against the idea of longtubes on my car and same with his friends. So I guess I will end up going shorties in the future unless I can talk them into it. But is the stainless works Y pipe good? They have stainless for 299 and aluminum for 199. Should I get the stainless si nce it will last pretty much forever? Where's the easiest place to put a cut-out so you can uncap it easily? Also, what did you do when you put it on stainless pipe?

My plans: I just bought a DMH electric cutout where IM putting behind the cat, in front of the axle. Its alot more mulah, but you can control your 'volume' on the go. Im planning on going with some Het-hot coated mac-midlengths in the future... but that will be a while from now.

How would I go about putting the cut-out on my stainless exhaust?

The cut out is welded in my stock exhaust right before the rear axle. It is very easy to get to right there. Just lay down next to the car and you can easily reach it.

Dont waste your money on buying just a y-pipe for the stock manifolds. If your planning on getting headers soon, it will be an even bigger waste b/c if you get shorties, it'll come with a y-pipe and if you buy long tubes, the y-pipe will be worthless.

So a Cut-out will weld into stainless exhaust? Are all cut-outs virtually the same?

Like I said before, buying a y pipe now would be a complete waste of your money. It doesn't matter if you get shorties or LTs, you'll still have to get a y pipe made up(for LTs) or the headers will have the y pipe with the kit. Pretty much all cutouts are the same by the way. If you're so worried about having a stainless cutout just have a custom one made.
